Got flavorful organic oranges! So I decided to make a marmalade with them.
There are only 2 ingredients, just oranges and sugar. Thought there are some recipes call for a lot sugar, like “twice the weight of sugar to fruit, my recipe is a low sugar type and the ratio is 4:1 whole orange to sugar, by weight.
Above: cut the peel and pith into thin slices
Below: remove the whole skin of the pulp
Left: brown sugar
Remove some bitterness from the peel and soften them.
Place the peels in boiling water and let them for a few minutes and rinse them. Repeat these two steps two more times.
Above: simmered the peels until they has become very soft
Below: mixed the pulps with sugar. The water comes out from them. (so we don’t need any water)
Place the peels and pulps into a pot, bring to a boil, reduce the heat low and simmer until you have your favorite thickness of marmalade, of course, stirring often.
Pour the marmalade into a clean jar.
The marmalade is one of my fav ways to enjoy oranges. this soft version is perfect for eating with yogurt☆
